Mar 19, 2007Blog, Graphic, Tutorials, Web design

Favicon Favicon is a small icon that appears in the browser address bar before the website address, when I write a little, I mean 16px x 16px pixels. All you need to add these icons to your site is just a set of icon (.ico) that is specifically called favicon.ico, this is placed in the root directory of the site.

Download the Plugin

Telegraphics – We need a plugin that will allow us to export files Windows icons (.ico) from within Photoshop. Plugin download from Telegraphics. Unzip the file and the file ICOFormat.8bi place in the directory C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop\Plug-Ins\File Formats. Restart Photoshop.

Start now create

Because 16px x 16px is a very small area of any formation, it would be better to set the project area to 64px x 64px. If you already have a logo or brand DONE, drop it from 64 px x 64 px desktop 16px x 16px (object reduce Ctrl + T ), make sure it’s okay if you want to edit is even something like go back to the 64 x 64 and try to modify the logo in the color palette page. If you are unable to endure at this size it will require a few attempts . Repeat the process until it fails.

Save

File – Save As, make sure that you have an icon named favicon.ico. From the drop-down bar, select the format to save the file – Windows Icon ( ICO ). This format is available only if you install this plugin. The next step upload this file to the root of your site, you also save it to a valid structure on the hard disk.
